Kendall County Bench Warrants Explained
“Bench warrant” is a practical label for process tied to a missed court appearance or an unmet court order. A lower court may use a more specific term, such as capias or capias pro fine. In Kendall County, the first question is which court set the underlying case: a city Municipal Court, a JP, or a District Court.
Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch both warn that missing a citation date can lead to a warrant. An unpaid Justice or Municipal Court judgment can follow a separate capias-pro-fine path under Texas law. No county page establishes a single definition or one recall procedure for every court.
Boerne Payment Does Not Mean Recall
Boerne's Warrants page lists a $50 warrant fee and a $10 OmniBase fee for the city citation process. It permits online or in-person payment, but warns that an after-hours, weekend, or holiday payment does not immediately remove arrest risk. Court staff must process the payment and recall the warrant.
The portal also warns that “Pay Now” closes the case with a conviction and ends dismissal eligibility. Ask the court about the effect of a payment before submitting it. Keep the confirmation, then call Boerne Municipal Court to ask when the active process was recalled.
How Kendall County Bench Warrants Are Issued
The process depends on the case and the court. A missed appearance date, failure to complete an extension, or unsatisfied judgment may lead a lower court to issue process under its rules and Texas law. Chapter 45A, Article 45A.259 covers a Justice or Municipal Court capias pro fine and includes judgment, custody, and hardship-hearing requirements.
The issuing court controls the case record and recall. Kendall County does not publish a combined system that proves every JP or city process reaches KCSO's public page. A warrant can remain open in the court record while another portal is blank or has not updated.
Fair Oaks Ranch Extension Terms
Fair Oaks Ranch offers a 60-day extension to pay in eligible situations. Its form warns that failure to finish the extended payment can lead to a capias pro fine for the remaining fines and costs, plus a $50 warrant fee. The form also references a $15 time-payment fee after the stated period.
This is a city form, not a promise that every case qualifies or that every Kendall court uses the same term or deadline. Read the signature and judge-only sections before sending it. Call the Municipal Court to ask whether the citation has been filed and what the court will accept.

Fair Oaks Appearance Requests Have Limits
Fair Oaks Ranch's court FAQ says an initial appearance takes place at the court window. The court does not accept an appearance by telephone, and initial or reset requests are not accepted by fax. Staff can explain the filing route, but an informal phone conversation is not a court appearance and does not replace a required response date.
That distinction matters if a missed date may have produced a warrant. Call 210-698-0983 to confirm the filing and ask what the next step requires, then use the city form or appear as directed. Do not assume an extension request has been granted until the court confirms it. If the citation or proposed waiver raises a legal question, consult counsel before signing.
Bench Warrants and Arrest Warrants Compared
A bench or failure-to-appear process is linked to a court obligation. An arrest warrant is a magistrate's written order based on the legal requirements for a charged offense. Both can authorize custody, but the trigger, case record, and route to ask for relief differ. See the Kendall County arrest warrant process for the separate Chapter 15 route.
| Feature | Bench Warrant | Arrest Warrant |
|---|---|---|
| Trigger | Missed setting or unmet court order | Probable-cause process for an offense |
| Who Issues It | Issuing judge or lower court | Magistrate under Chapter 15 |
| Underlying Case | Existing citation or court matter | Criminal charge or investigation |
| Who Controls Recall | The court that set the case | The issuing court or magistrate |
Kendall County Has No Recall Form
The official pages reviewed did not locate a universal motion-to-recall or quash form, filing fee, or countywide walk-in docket. That gap matters. Do not assume a person can walk into a clerk's office, pay a set amount, and leave with a recalled warrant.
Ask the issuing court whether it requires an appearance, a motion, an extension request, payment, or a bond. Court staff can explain filing steps but cannot give legal advice. A judge or court order controls the result, not the sheriff's roster or a payment receipt.
Resolving a Kendall County Bench Warrant
Identify the court, confirm the exact process name, and ask what it requires. The route may involve a new setting, payment, an extension, bond, a motion, or a personal appearance. If an arrest or felony case is possible, ask an attorney whether counsel can arrange an appearance. Kendall's public sources do not promise an arrest-free walk-in.
- Use the citation or cause number to confirm the issuing court and current status.
- Ask whether payment, an extension, a motion, bond, or an appearance is required.
- Read any form for conviction, waiver, fee, and hearing terms before signing.
- Keep proof and request written or docket confirmation that recall was entered.
- Ask when related sheriff or DPS records should update.
Caution: The reviewed Kendall sources do not establish a general expiration date. Call the issuing court before relying on an old citation or an online payment receipt.
JP and City Court Routing
Traffic and Class C files can sit outside the courthouse's felony record system. JP1 lists criminal and traffic guidance; JP4 publishes public magistration access between 8 a.m. and noon, seven days a week. Those details do not make either office a universal walk-in warrant counter. Contact the precinct named on the paper.
Check the JP4 official page before using its Comfort office route. The screenshot below shows the court's public magistration notice, not an individual file.

JP1's separate citation guidance is shown below as another precinct-specific route.

Precinct contacts and procedures differ; a city citation still belongs with its municipal court.
Kendall JP4 Magistration Has a Narrow Window
JP4 publishes public magistration access every day from 8 a.m. until noon and serves the Comfort area. Its published contact number is 830-995-2031. That access window concerns magistrate availability; it is not a daily docket for all warrant cases and does not promise that a walk-in will avoid arrest.
JP1, JP2, and JP3 maintain separate precinct records and phone lines. A citation or bond paper should identify the right court. Contact the named precinct before traveling and ask whether it wants a case number, citation, or other record locator. Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch citations remain with the municipal court that filed them.
Finding the Court That Issued the Warrant
The court that set the case controls its warrant record and recall. A Boerne citation goes to Boerne Municipal Court at 830-248-1504; a Fair Oaks Ranch citation goes to its Municipal Court at 210-698-0983. County traffic matters route to the named JP precinct. Felony questions go to the District Clerk and assigned District Court.
Do not send a city citation to the District Clerk or use the Sheriff list as a city-court confirmation. Read the case paper and call the listed court. For the wider office map and KCSO records route, use the Kendall County overview. Bring the case or citation number and ask what form of confirmation the court can provide.
