Kendall County Traffic Warrants Explained
In Kendall County, a missed response date or unpaid judgment can lead to a warrant or capias, but the court that issued the citation controls the steps. Boerne handles city traffic, parking, ordinance, and other Class C matters. Fair Oaks Ranch handles Class C traffic and city ordinances filed by its police. County road or other justice-court citations go to the JP precinct named on the paper.
A traffic warrant is court process. A DPS license-renewal hold is a separate reporting consequence. Start with the citation and court name; a countywide name search will not reliably cover the city and JP systems.
Kendall County Traffic Courts Differ
Boerne's Municipal Court handles Class C filings from police, animal control, permitting and code, and fire-marshal functions. Fair Oaks Ranch's court handles traffic and ordinance cases filed by city police. Four JPs handle their own precinct criminal and traffic matters. A city warrant should be checked with its city court, while a JP capias belongs with the correct precinct.
| Citation source | First office | Local route |
|---|---|---|
| Boerne city | Boerne Municipal Court | Portal, warrant page, or court phone |
| Fair Oaks Ranch city | Fair Oaks Ranch Municipal Court | Portal, FAQ, extension form |
| County precinct | Issuing JP1–JP4 | Call the precinct on the citation |

Checking for a Traffic Warrant
Use the citation number and date of birth where the official portal requests them. Boerne offers additional search paths by driver-license number and state, Social Security number, plate and state, name and birth date, or business name. Fair Oaks Ranch links its own payment/search portal, but its FAQ does not list every live field. If the online screen is unclear, call the court rather than guessing.
- Identify the city or JP precinct on the citation.
- Open that court's official portal and use the citation and identity fields it requests.
- Call the court if no case appears or the record does not explain warrant status.
- Ask whether an appearance is required before visiting; city and JP procedures differ.
Boerne Portal Search Paths
Boerne's official portal displays six routes: citation number plus birth date; driver's license, state, and birth date; Social Security number and birth date; plate and state; first and last name with birth date; and business name. Its notice says to omit the dash and following digits in a citation number. Do not share a sensitive identifier with anyone who contacted you unexpectedly.
The portal also warns that Pay Now closes the case with a conviction, and that a missing confirmation can mean the request failed. A partial payment is allowed only for a person already approved for a monthly plan. Save the confirmation and contact the court about recall timing.
Open the Fair Oaks Ranch city portal to see its current search screen; the screenshot captures that official city interface.

Payment portals are tied to the city that issued the citation and do not combine county courts.
Inside a Traffic Warrant Record
Boerne's dated city PDF shows citation-level fields, not a universal warrant document. Its public list displays a citation number, offense, violation reference, violation date, and balance. It does not show a separate warrant number, bond, judge, service agency, or recall timestamp. No comparable Fair Oaks active PDF was located.
| Citation # | Use the court's citation number; no separate local warrant format was found. |
|---|---|
| Offense | Boerne PDF field for its own municipal citation list. |
| Issuing Court | Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch, or the JP named on the paper. |
| Balance | Boerne snapshot only; ask the court for a current amount. |
| Recall status | No shared county status code or update time is published. |
Kendall County DPS Holds Are Separate
The Texas DPS Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay program can block license renewal until the reporting court clears the violation. DPS says its license specialists cannot see warrant information, and it directs people back to the issuing court. An FTA/FTP hold may follow a citation, but it is not a warrant confirmation or county search.
The state says updates can take up to seven business days after the court reports compliance. Keep the court receipt and ask when it sent the update. The official DPS page shown below explains the program route.
Review the DPS FTA/FTP program for the state's instructions.

For local warrant status, contact the court that filed the citation.
How to Pay or Lift a Traffic Warrant
Ask the issuing court for the current balance, appearance requirement, and exact action that will recall the process. Boerne publishes online, phone, and in-person payment routes. Fair Oaks Ranch FAQ describes card payment online and check or money order by mail. The four JPs publish separate payment bureau codes. These options are not interchangeable.
- Confirm the citation, court, warrant or capias status, and total due.
- Ask whether an appearance, extension, payment, or bond is required.
- Read the city's form or payment notice before signing or submitting money.
- Save proof and call back to confirm recall and any DPS reporting update.
Warning: Boerne says an active warrant remains enforceable until court staff process payment and recall it. An after-hours receipt is not immediate recall.
Kendall County Extension Forms Differ
Boerne provides a 30-day extension form. It requests citation, contact, driver's-license, birth-date, signature, and date information, and it includes waiver language and consequences if the extension is not completed. Fair Oaks Ranch offers a 60-day extension form with a court-only judge signature block and a capias-pro-fine warning.
Neither form is a countywide amnesty. A form may affect the person's case rights, so read it and ask counsel about a legal choice. The research found no current Kendall countywide warrant roundup or safe-surrender event announcement.
Kendall County Has No Traffic Amnesty Notice
The reviewed county and city sources did not announce a traffic-warrant amnesty, safe-surrender event, or countywide citation-clearing period. Boerne's extension and Fair Oaks Ranch's extension are individual court procedures, with different time limits and conditions. A form from one city does not change a JP case or another municipality's docket.
Ask the court named on the citation whether an extension, payment plan, appearance, or other remedy is available. Do not rely on an unofficial caller who promises to erase a balance or stop enforcement. A court clerk can explain procedure; a Texas attorney can advise about legal choices.
Justice Court Traffic Checks Follow Precincts
A county citation routes to the precinct printed on the ticket. Kendall County JP1 answers at 830-331-8258, JP2 at 830-249-8404, JP3 at 830-249-2820, and JP4 at 830-995-2031. Each Justice Court keeps its own traffic and criminal matters, and the county directory lists separate payment bureau codes. One precinct's portal or clerk cannot clear another court's case.
JP4's public page describes magistration access from 8 a.m. to noon each day. That is a magistrate-access window, not an appointment or promise that a traffic warrant can be resolved at the counter. Read the citation for its court name, then call that court to ask whether a hearing, appearance, or payment plan applies. City citations remain with Boerne or Fair Oaks Ranch Municipal Court.
Traffic Warrants, FTA, and License Holds
A missed traffic date can create a court process, while the reporting court can separately send an FTA/FTP item to DPS. A person may need to resolve both the citation and the license-renewal flag. DPS updates do not decide whether the city or JP has recalled its warrant.
| Mechanism | What Triggers It | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic warrant | Unpaid citation or missed response under court process | Custody process controlled by issuing court |
| FTA / capias | Missed court setting or unsatisfied lower-court judgment | Court appearance or other remedy may be required |
| DPS FTA/FTP flag | Reporting court submits an unpaid violation | Can block driver-license renewal until cleared |
To check the court side, use the citation and city or precinct, then confirm with that office. For general lookup routes, see the Kendall County warrant search steps.
